Focus On YOU Instead Of Them

Are you worried about the competition?

Are you worried about your status?

Are you forever looking over your shoulder?

This kind of “looking over your shoulder” mindset leads to stress, stuckness, and sickness.

Stop.

Because worrying about “them”  and what they are doing and being anxious about what “them” are thinking, will detour you from what is happening with  YOU right now.

Where are YOU at the moment?

What are you thinking?

What is your next step?

How will YOU get there?

These are courageous questions to occupy your mind. Rather then worrying and competing with everyone and everything around you.

Your competition, is always going to be changing and forever evolving.  It will always be someone who is doing something better, more creative, more innovative than you. How will you keep up?

You can’t… it’s a never ending battle.

My best advise is to Focus on YOU.

What is going on right now with you is more important then what is going on with  “them”

If you focus on “them” you will become a reactionary instead of visionary.

If you focus on  “them” you will become stuck instead of focused.

If you focus on “them” you will become confused instead of clear.

If you are going to be somewhere be yourself. If you are going to be everywhere you will lose yourself. If you are going to someone be the best you can be.

    Dear Lolly,

You always have a wonderful way of getting to the heart of a subject or issue. I so agree with you, too (not much of a surprise there), and your post reminds me of something I have proposed.

When we compete with others, we limit the degree to which we can grow or the heights to which we can achieve. It is only by being the absolute best that we can be (focusing on ourselves) that we can realize our full potential, our greatest life.

Thank you for sharing all that you do.

    Love and Blessings,
    Karl

Wow. What a great post. And soooo true.

I especially love this thought: “If you focus on “them” you will become a reactionary instead of visionary.”

I think this is one of the reasons we see so little innovation in business today. Everyone is so busy running around trying to “beat the competition” they have no time to do something so awesome that the competition no longer matters.

You rock, Lolly. I really appreciate your thoughts here. You’ve given really powerful advice. Thanks.

Thank you, Lolly, for reminding us all that when we are our most authentic selves, we can serve others. If we are always concerned about “them”, we may think we are serving but in fact we are slaves to other’s expectations, beliefs, fears, or worries. In that role, we can never be our true selves. Be your best and you will be the best for others.

Thank you for your excellent crisp post Lolly! People need to hear this “permission” to focus on YOU.

Focusing on YOU requires reflection and fosters Being–and well being. Focusing on “them” results in reaction and a life addicted to “doing”.

A life based on reflection and Being is infinitely more fulfilling than one driven by “doing”. Keep up your Blessed efforts to touch the hearts and minds of so many:) EdC

Lolly, Good Post. Mary Jo Asmus just had a post on a similar subject. I feel that a lot of us are trying to keep up with the jonseses as they say, and sometimes its so hard to do that. I think it is more important to be true to ourselves rather than always compare ourselves, because this can be exhausting. It’s good sound advice that’s for sure. Thanks for the post!

      Dear Amber,
I am sure Mary Jo Asmus’s post was brilliant. This message of focusing on “YOU” is important. If more of us spread that message, then more people hear the message.
So glad you stopped by. So thoughtful of you to leave a comment.

There is no denying that there is a lot of competition out there and things are moving at a rapid pace. That is why I agree with you Lolly. Our time is precious and we need to spend it focusing on offering the best from within ourselves- this alone takes tremendous work and insight.

      Lynn,
I agree with you too. Staying focused on ourselves and what is important to us – is the art of leading from within.
It is the pathwork of transformation and transcendence.

      Niki,
Leadership in life is not always about leading others. It is a great deal about leading from within. Thinking of YOU before them. Is a big part of inner strengthening and deeper understanding of self. Give yourself “self love” as you go through this crossroad.
And read my next blog post. Don’t say YES when you mean NO.
